This painting is Betty's depiction of the dreamings handed down to her from her late mother, the highly acclaimed indigenous artist, Minnie Pwerle. The smaller circles represent the bush melon seeds that are collected by the women from Betty's tribe. The melon comes from a small bush approximately one metre in height and has a sweet, pleasant taste. The concentric circles portray 'ntgant' or soakage sites where water collects during periods of rain. The small dots are the melon seeds that regenerate during rain. 'Awelye' or body painting designs also feature in this painting. This iconography represents the body paint applied across the women's upper torso for ceremonial purposes.
