Marrawuk refers to the dry season, which is begins when dry winds blow in a southerly direction. The changes in the land, such as dry earth and dropping water levels means that the communities can start hunting for turtles. The low, muddy waters allow the turtles to hibernate and also make it easier to spear fish.
