In her paintings, Polly depicts the "Bush Plum Dreaming" using various pastel shades to depict the contours of her country and the varying seasonal palette. Polly creates her paintings using layer upon layer of colour.
The Bush Plum, also known as the "Conkerberry" is collected by the Anmatyerre women. The trees generally start bearing fruit after rain. The women shake the trees to make the plums fall to the ground. The plums are then soaked in water to make them plump. They have a pleasant sweet taste like grapes. They are a main source of food for the Anmatyerre people.
